Strange maps

I am fascinated by maps. The always remind me of places i wanted to go. I love maps. There is so much logic in them, and yet its so easy to get lost even with the map in your hands. Reading a map and using one appeared to be a skill not everyone has. Maps are amazing.

And sometimes i look at maps as a joke. Map of the world? WHOLE world on one piece of paper? All its beauty on PAPER? All its DIVERSITY in the range of green-brown-blue colours? how pathetic to try to transmit something so beautiful, so endless, so breath-taking  in the simplified version of the birds’ view that noone except the birds is looking at anyway…

Yet while the birds didn’t tell us that the world looks different from high above, people could see it in a whole different way.  We see what we want to see.states-united

Mixing countries around, trying to divide, draw borders with a pencil, colouring them in different colours. I wish people would see the world for what it really is, and not t what they want it to be.

But for now, follow the Strange Maps link, and enjoy the different perspectives on the same squire metres.

Trust

Have you ever trusted someone?

You know.. when there’s no reason to be anyone else, but yourself. When you’re free to say exactly how you feel, exactly what you feel, share what’s on your mind, things you dont tell anyone, or things that you want to tell everyone…without being afraid of sounding stupid, childish, angry.., without being afraid to be judged, to be ignored, to be scared of, to be laughed at. Because you know the other person knows a bigger picture of who you are, and every new pretty or not -piece of you would make a picture even more complete. And you don’t want to pretend. You dont want to waste any minute faking, you just want to be yourself. As transparent as you are. Not hiding any side of you, not adjusting, not missing any piece of who you are. For me trust is not about trusting your secrets and know they’ll be safe. For me TRUST is trusting someone your true self. Without even doubting that you’ll be safe.

Have you ever trusted yourself everyone you meet? - Being yourself every single moment of your life?

There’s a long way to go. And the start is in small but very important steps. Finding that one or few people that you truly trust. See if you can do it. See how it feels. – How to find them? By opening yourself to people. By trying, trusting, and not getting disappointed if it doesnt work. Because the feeling is definitely worth it.. it kinda gives you HOPE.

“Ultimately, I’m looking for someone I can talk to about anything and everything, who I don’t have to filter myself around, someone I can cry in front of or tell my biggest fears or most embarrassing secrets, someone who I know isn’t judging me, and who, in return, will open up to me. There’s plenty that goes on in my head that I don’t share with even my closest friends; as revealing as I may be about my sex life, I’m actually fairly private about quite a bit. It’s rare to find someone I can truly let go with, but that’s what I want in the future: someone who lets me be me”

second identities

At this point of time human is more than just a being. We are reflected in so many ways, the expression of ourselves is so many things – online and on paper. Among so many forms of expression, which one reflects us the best nowadays?
It cant be our CV. CV is just a list of experiences we’ve been through – its doesn’t say what we’ve learned and how we will apply it in the future. It doesn’t say what we’re passionate about and what we’d put our all energy into when we have a chance. It doesn’t say a lot of things. It is created by the set of rules, and if you break them – it wont even be looked at. We think we know how to read it, but i am sure we misread so much from those CVs, that it becomes useless to take it seriously.
We can write something of our own form. But apparently we need to put it into the form of expression that will be accepted and looked at, something familiar, otherwise there’s no point. So what do we do?
Cover letters? The ones we adjust to the job and don’t hesitate to slightly change (read “to lie”) if we need to? Those don’t say a thing.
Writing a Bio? Creating a Blog? Nowadays it’ll be one of billion blogs online… Making it different? Adding video/twitter.. The more technology develops – the more effort you need to put into your “visible” identity. And the more detailed and frequently updated it is – the less chances people will take time to explore it.
At the same time, its not wise to stay on the ways that only provide very limited information of our identity, like CV. Because we are so much more than that.

So if for any reason we couldnt speak, what would we choose to say who we are? How do we let the world know whats behind our name and whats our story? What would you rely on?
